Hairy

Well, it was just another busy day of hair ..when I realized something.I think an important something , when I am able to create hair that makes someone happy (not the happy u get when u smile ) The REALLY happy you get when you understand that on the outside you match the beautiful you are on the inside. I am really Blessed ! Doing hair can seem boring or mudane to some but it’s my calling. My God given calling, it’s weird to think of it that way for some ,but for me it’s truth. You see when I have the opportunity to spend this time with people ,they open up ,they tell me things-some things that only Jesus should know !Some things are their joys andsorrows ,I consider this an honor .To be given the chance to be real with people and love them well there are no words ! And that they would trust me with this & their hair ,well I am WOW’d (is that a word?) I am truly passionated about making people understand they are precious & loved . It is such a blessing to think I get to do this while creating wonderful Hair!To encourage you to be strong ,make hard choices and step out of THE DAMN BOX !That’s what I want you to experience ..not a mundane, rushed, “Regular trim”.Maybe I am truly obsessed with all things Hairy…but it blesses my soul in a way no bloggy words could express.

Cashmere anyone?

I am really crafty ..really. Big Papa always says ” I am crafty and that’s just his type.”I love to make something from something no longer used.So intrigrating recycled craft objects into hair ,well that’s my thing! My client Jen had an old cashmere sweater that she shrunk,I know it’s a very sad story. But I had an idea to make some things from it so it could be cherished longer.First Icut off the sleeves and made fingerless gloves for her.Than a shrug trimmed with beads for my dearest daughter. Now for the really exciting part .Jen had a party to go to and it was Freezing here in Baltimore. So she needed a warm updo. The front of this cashmere sweater had a braid, how about a braided headband??

A Night oF Inspiration

So yesterday was a BuSy day..it started off with a sore neck in the morning from a color swatch book ??? And was probably from the massive amounts of hair I did . I was worried that I would be spending the whole day on the heating pad .But “duty called” (My little sister) she needed help moving . My Sissy & her Hubby will be deploying to Iraq in February  To serve Our Country.. which I am convinced may be her secret way of seeing if she can make me  officially go Nutz .  This is a picture of them . Please Pray for them and

and ME uuhhmm I mean their family left here .I am Honored to be her sister she is An Amazing woman and Stronger than any Bitch you have ever met !!!Big Papa  just walked by and smiled he’s soo used to seeing me cry at the computer ..lol. I’m the crier she’s the Soldier. What does this have to with a hair Blog ? I’m trying to get to that part. Finally after some moving boxes we left only to be stuck in the Glorious Friday night traffic. Finally after a quick big city girl blowdry I was on my way to  BlogLove “Takes Flight”

I got there a little late but was still able to see the trapeze artist Mara do  breath-taking trapeze theater …I just want to build a wig and hang it upside down with only gravity to move it .See I told you I was Inspired ! Not just by that but by being in a room full of women ( some hubbies too) with a Vision!!! The Bible says somewhere without a vision we would all perish ! I know I would . My dreams last night were full of hairy flying inspiration. How powerful it was to meet you ladies !  And to come home and stay up to wee hours of the morning reading Your stories and smiling . So stay tuned please and bear with my NEWBee blog .

Don’t Worry ,Be Happy

Ok ,Ok, I know cheesey song but really when you come in to get a hair cut are you typically stressed??? Will your definition of an inch be the same as your hairdresser? Is she going to make you wait hours? Will she be sober? What is the most ridiculous thing you had to endure during a salon service?

I want to help you with this , give you pointers to get the most out of your salon service. Because honestly I just hear way too many horror stories that could have been prevented.

Before you even make your first appointment check out the salon , go in look around -see if anyone is screaming in the back. Ask to be shown around ,ask what  products they use , how long have they been there, you get the idea .You can even do this over the phone, sometimes the way they answer the phone is the 1st way you can tell what the atmosphere is like. Personally the best way to find a great Cosmetologist is through a friend ,if you like her hair than you probably like her hairdresser! Some salons will give you a FREE consultation, which is a great way to see if they know their stuff.

Now that you have made your appointment ,do some prep work .Get some pictures from the internet ,magazines even ones of how Your actual hair used to be.When you get there be sure to talk, before she shampoos you.Tell her some things you want to know about ..like how to get more volume or what products she recommendsfor your hair type.

Finally ,Dear if when she’s done or during you start to feel like it’s NOT what you want  ask her to fix it or get help to fix the problem.BEFORE YOU PAY & leave!!!

Lots of problems can be avoided if you take some of these steps. As a Cosmetologist I want to make you happy so you will come back that is what most salons want repeat service so be sure YOU ARE HAPPY !

Look at Little Miss Red Bow she’s smiling !

Little Miss Red Bow

Updos do not have to be hard or take hours. If your teen has a special event and you can’t make it to see me ,give her a Quickie updo. After shampooing & conditioning add a styling product like mousse or styling creme . Then blow out her hair with a round brush. This happy girlie has medium textured hair.  Get out your bobby pins or hair pins whichever you like to work with, and start twisting & pinning,(one trick for hair pins is to angle them as you are putting them in.) You can use force depending on whether or not she is being mouthy at the time.Leave the ends loose for the tousled look. I love to add ANYTHING in Updos here we used a little bow that was left over from a Christmas present. Add the perfect little dress and some red lips and Little Miss Red Bow is the hit of the sock hop!   O yeah and arranging the order of pics not an easy job! I am sure to get better in time. If you do try this at home send your pics I’d love to see your Do’s Honey!

A Story To Start With

To begin with let me say I have been Forced to write a Blog , not that I don’t want to it’s just that I know some “Bloggers” and for the record a good blog takes WORK . And I have a lot of work already. But there is this Passion for getting good solid Hair out into the Blog world that well excites me , so here I am. A little background info on me, I have a husband a.k.a Big Bapa , 4 kids who are a blessing  and  I have been a Cosmetologist since rollers , dryers and Lots O’ AquaNet were  the  trend. I would like to answer your Hardest hair questions and help you with some ideas and of course show you- How. So maybe this Blogging thing could work out after all…….
